NATURAL ATTENUATION

PROJECT PROFILES:

Parsippany, NJ Facility

At this facility, a solvents release led to implementation of a costly pump and treat system. Once the source area was addressed, RT recommended conversion to a natural attenuation approach, justified by modeling and use of sentinel wells. Even though the release involved chlorinated compounds, we were able to technically justify the approach, and the natural attenuation was approved by NJDEP.

Vineland, NJ Car Dealership

Solvent material spilled into a septic tank at this site which caused impacted soil and groundwater, exceeding NJDEP standards. RT used soil vapor extraction followed by natural attenuation, as a focused, integrated remedial approach. SVE work was completed in nine months and NJDEP approved a Classification Exception Area, acknowledging the natural remediation approach.
